Recently we have been doing statistics which means gathering information and then present it.There are lots of different types of ways to do statistics but we did three. They were called the bar graph, pictogram and a tally chart. First we had a subject to do a tally chart on.For example my one was what is Rm 4's favourite colour.I had to go around asking people what their favourite colour was. Then we would record it using tally marks.Next we had to draw it out in a bar graph. To draw one you have to draw the Y axis(the line going down) and the X axis(the line going across). Then you have to label the Y axis with "number of votes" and the X axis with "options".Then you have to write down numbers on the side. Then you have to draw bars up to the number of votes on the side. Then you need to write three statements. For example Blue had the most votes,Yellow had the least number of votes,Blue had three votes more than Purple. You can also do a pictogram. To draw one you have to draw a coulmn and long lines straight across. Then you have to draw little pictures to represent how many votes you got.I enjoyed doing the bar graphs because it was really hard. What I found hard was coming up with a subject to do it on because you had to not make it very specific.Next time I would like to do fractions. What do you know about graphs?
