Help! A Giant!

W.A.L.T To write with adjectives. Today we had to write about what it would be like to be a giant. My story is called Help! A Giant! Photo courtesy of Leekitaek www.1x.com

Help! A Giant!
Being big has its advantages. You can walk a mile in 10 steps! Okay maybe that's an exaggeration, maybe 20 steps, but you get what I mean. But sometimes it can be annoying. You eat a lot more than other people. Sometimes you can accidentally stand on people’s cars. You easily lose your bag because it's so small. Getting to school is easy but getting through the door is a whole other challenge. Right now they are building a new door so I can actually get through. I go to Middlesville Ridge and trust me don't go there if you hate science. That school are physics fanatics!

I am approximately 10.2 feet tall so a bit taller than the average person. My father was the tallest man and mother the tallest woman. I was a normal sized baby, even a bit small, but when I hit 13 I suddenly, as my parents put it, had a growth spurt.

Sometimes when people see me they try to run away. “Help! A giant” they say. Or sometimes they think I'm on stilts so they try to look for them and when they find none they say “Freak” and run away. That is why I don't have any friends. My brother and sister are normal sized  and they call me an embarrassment.

Sometimes I say to my mum “I wish I wasn't so big.” and she smiles and says “You have a very special gift so cherish it and use it.”  I don't believe what she says. “ Mmmmmmmm maybe.”  I said

When I was first at the height I am at now I thought I would be able to jump over buildings with ease. But then I discovered how tall those buildings actually are. The first time I tried jumping over a building I tried to jump over the statue of liberty. Big mistake. I thought the best way I could do it was to do a leapfrog jump, but when I tried I landed right on the spike. I decided from then on I would only jump over walls. I jump over about 5 walls everyday on the way to school. My favourite wall is the one where I jump over the slums and I reach the 5 km mark.

Pencils are much too small for me so I go to Paper Plus to get their giant pencils. Sometimes I go to Smiggle but they are not as good  service as Paper Plus (cough cough not sponsored or anything). Even the homework sheets are too small. My teacher gives me my homework on an A0 piece of paper (841 x 1189 mm in case you were wondering) and I have to use a magnifying glass to look at it.

I wouldn't say I love being giant but I guess you either love it or you hate it.  Anyway I expect not many readers have read up to this bit because they've gotten bored at the third paragraph but if you stayed on, good for you. If you see me walking around the city, feel free to say hello!

  1. Wow Kate this is an amazing story! I read right to the end by the way! I love the humor you have put into it, it makes it a lot of fun to read. I would defiantly say Hello to your giant if I came across him. What is your characters name?
