Dutiful Duffy

WALT be grateful for what we receive. Today we received our Duffy Books for this year as we always do. Unfortunately the book that I wanted was out of stock so I got a similar book instead. The book was called Worlds Scariest Places and to be honest I definitely would have preferred the other book because this one wasn't that scary. 

On a happier note thank you to Duffy for giving us the books even if I didn't like the book. Thanks to Avonhead Rotary for providing the books to Duffy. What would be your favourite genre and why?

 WALT Photoshop yourself at your dream destination. Today I used Pixlr E to Photoshop myself in Paris and honestly, I think I really improved the Eiffel Tower. Here is my picture:

Haiku

WALT Write a haiku. A haiku is a type of poem where it consists of three lines. The first line is 5 syllables, the second is 7 syllables and third is 5 syllables. Mine is about Big Chungus. Here it is:

Santa story

 WALT: Collaborate to create an interesting narrative. Today we did a challenge where we had a partner and we each wrote one sentence. It turned out pretty weird. Here it is:

Start	The door swung open revealing...
Sam	In the door there was Santa and he cried
Kate	Then a huge earthquake happened and the world split in two
Kate	Then drink bottle appeared and smacked people on the heads
Sam	We lived happily ever after but Santa  hehehe,  he died.
Kate	Then Miss Claus was yeeted into the sky by an elf.
Sam	She didn't stick the landing, she broke her back.
Sam	Then she ate all the cookies and she was fat as an elephant.
Sam	Then Lily-rose came to the North Pole and she ate a lot of milk and cake and cookie and became chubby
Sam	They all died hahahahahahahaha.  The End.

Mary diary entry

WALT  write from another's perspective. Today we had to choose a Bible reading and write about it from Mary's perspective. Here is mine:

19/11/4  B.C

Dear diary, today something extraordinary happened. Here I was minding my own business, reading the latest scrolls when this sudden bright light appeared. I looked up and saw an angel with a name tag that said Gabriel. I prayed that this angel would not be coming to announce my death. The angel seemed to read my mind and said “I have amazing news, you are going to give birth to the son of God and you will name him Jesus.” 

“Okay first of all, how does this work cause I’m married to Joseph so how could you just put a baby in me.” I said, confused.

“He’s God he can do anything.”

Then he left.

“Okayyyyy, I’ll just wait and see.” I thought.

Writing description - Ruin by Wes Ball

WALT write a description. Today we wrote a description on a short movie called Ruin. Here is my description:

Bridges and buildings were covered in spiky green ivy making it hard to inside the buildings. The leaves had become intertwined with the poles in the building structure and the ground was covered in moss. The city looked unkempt and uncared for. Although abandoned it had a cosy feel.

Tilly and Timmy - the lambs!

WALT write a story from another's perspective. Today two lambs of my teachers lambs came to class. They were called Tilly and Timmy and were so cute. We wrote a diary entry from the perspective of one of the lambs. Here is my diary entry:Today my dad brought me and my brother to a strange place I think they call school. On the outside it looked harmless but inside, oh boy, it was the worst place in the world. The smells were overwhelming and colours were crazy, but don’t even ask about the noise! It sounded the sky was ripping open and 100 million trees were falling to the ground. My dad put in probably the smallest pen in the world. Everything was different (well apart from Timmy, he was being his usually annoying lamb self). For once I was getting attention from everyone! I thought “Hey, I’ll tolerate the noise and everything else for a little bit of attention.” Then the door of the cage opened and me and Timmy ran out. We went for a bit of a walk and I enjoyed it (mostly). The smell was horrid but it was a bit quieter. To be honest I can’t wait to go home!

Saint Gertrude

WALT to use texture in painting. In class we have been learning about Canadian culture so for our calendar art we did a totem pole. Most schools do it too so you should buy your children's art work!

Twizel

WALT write a recount about what happened in the holidays. In the holidays we went to a small town called Twizel. There wasn't much to do so we went to the surrounding places. Here is my recount of what happened. Have you been to Twizel?

After ballet on the first Saturday of the holidays we went on a four hour drive to get to Twizel and to be honest I don't know how I survived with dads farts. We really needed to buy gas masks because I nearly passed out. I got super carsick but luckily Mum brought seasickness tablets and then I fell asleep.

When we finally got there we didn’t do much but the next day we went to Mt John Observatory. It was snowing so hard I could barely see. I put crystalized snow down the back of Mum’s shirt but she got me back by shoving dirty snow in my mouth. Then we went to Mt Cook. It was still snowing hard so we couldn’t do the walk but there was a cool museum with stuffed animals.

On the third day we went to Clay Cliffs which is a bunch of rocks formed over the years by salt, grit and fresh water then uplifted. I found a ton of Rose Quartz. At one point I nearly fell about 50 feet. We drove back and I collapsed on the leather chair. I felt traumatised (side note, I'm fine) Then that night we went to an Thai takeaway and I had the best Pad Thai. 

So I had a four hour drive, ate dirty snow and nearly died. What a lovely holiday.

What a load of rubbish!

W.A.L.T: Choose  a picture of our recycling bin and rubbish bin, The school skip or another classes rubbish and analyse how we or they are helping with stewardship. Today we had to take picture of our rubbish bins and see if they are showing stewardship. I took a picture of the big rubbish bin and a small recycle bin. I was kind of sad to see normal pieces of paper in the rubbish bin when it's supposed to be in the recycle bin. Have you ever put a piece of rubbish in the recycling because they have to pay a $1000 to decontaminate a truck.

Cricket for P.E

 WALT keep your eyes on the ball. 

At PE today we played cricket which is my favourite sport so I loved it! We jumped on a big bouncy castle to catch a ball they threw at us. I didn't catch any of the balls but I still enjoyed it. After we finished that we played two bat cricket and I hit one that went really far! Here is a photo of me running up to the bouncy castle.

Ocelot information report

W.A.L.T organises written ideas into paragraphs. Here is my information report on Ocelots:

Ocelot’s are part of the Felidae family. They weigh 8-15kg and are 40-50 cm between the shoulders. Their scientific name is Leopardus pardalis.

They live in the South American rain forests but are sometimes found as far as Texas. Ocelots can live in human habitats and are sometimes found in villages or southern towns.

Ocelots can be very aggressive when they are fighting for their territory but calm down when it’s mating season. They are kind towards their offspring.

Ocelots hunt rabbits, rats , mice, iguanas, fish, and frogs. They don’t avoid the water and they like to swim. They are very dangerous but don’t hurt humans. They aren’t very good as house pets because they will wreck the house.

Ocelots are very cute and I think that I would like to see them but only at a zoo because they are wild cats.

 WALT dress up and enjoy books. 

Today we had to dress up as a book character which was very enjoyable. I dressed up a Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. What is your favourite book? 

Imagery writing

WALT write a paragraph for the start of a story using imagery. Here is mine: I entered a serene like garden with a bright light at the end. When I reached it I saw the most astonishing thing. It was a long stairway that looks like it went on forever. It had varying types of flowers strung along the side. It led to bright fluffy clouds that looked like cotton candy. The steps shone brightly as though they had the newly polished. I walked up the stairs cautiously; the stairs seemed to sway beneath me. There was a bright light with pearly white gates as I entered heaven.
